LaMotte bids farewell to music, mountains - 11/27/08
Asheville is saying goodbye to an old friend this weekend. Singer-songwriter David LaMotte is packing up his family and moving to Brisbane, Australia, to pursue a master's degree in international relations, peace and conflict resolution at University of Queensland. The longhaired, sweet-faced poet was one of the leaders of the early songwriting scene in the mountains that included other open-tuning guitar wizards like David Wilcox and Chuck Brodsky.

Angi West goes her own way - 11/26/08
If Pavarotti and Mahalia Jackson had a love child, she might sound like Angi West. The local singer-songwriter/keyboardist delights much in going against the grain, and in being challenging to pin down stylistically, as evidenced by her album title, “Orange Thread in a Blue Sea.” She's put together a talented new band and has a forthcoming follow-up CD scheduled for release in early 2009. West and company take the stage at Bobo this Saturday for an intimate performance among friends and fans.
